Hmm.. I only managed to post this thing up now because the internet at my place was down yesterday. Well, anyway, yesterday we were to gather in LT25 again, to clear our doubts about the project. Anyway, Mr. Alfie mentioned that students tend to get the wrong idea (like what I said in the previous post). The project was supposed to be some sort of documentary of our journey of our freshmen year. He also mentioned that many people thought they had to include all subjects. However, we were told that it was not necessary, unless we want it that way. That actually made our lives easier. :) Then, we were supposed to achieve the purpose of making the video, not just to make the video nice. For example, if the video’s a really nice and cool one but failed to achieve its objective, it has been done wrongly.
Then, we were shown a few examples on how documentaries are actually done, which one’s the right way to do it, and some lousy ones. We were shown documentaries of The Lord of The Rings, some documentary about detectives trying to solve a case that happened in
Today, we actually thought that the way Hostage was introduced was really interesting. They actually used graphics for it. I liked the way they linked them all up together so smoothly. It’s really different and I guess, not easy to do. Then, the last illustration actually faded into a video. It was cool.
We also liked Shoot ‘em Up’s ending. It was actually funny, with the carrot. AHAHA. Other than that, there were lots of shootings. The show also ended with illustrations. There were lots of guns, shootings, and blood. However, they managed to put them all up in a creative way, and once again, linking them all up. Never have I thought of a gun becoming a building. Hah. Oh, yes..Vivien and I especially liked the part where there were bodies full of blood and it actually flowed down with the credits. We went “WAH. Nice..” …something like that. Haha.
I wasn’t sure what Aaron thought of though. We didn’t manage to have a group discussion today. We actually planned for an online discussion yesterday night but my #@$@^%& internet would not allow me to do so. I’m so sorry, people =((. Well, anyway, all I knew was that we were trying to do part of our introduction the way the detective video one did. Oh, and I kind of liked the part where they actually made use of only words and audio. Ting Yu, like us, liked the examples too, including the ending for Monsters Inc. for their graphics and song.
The lecturer emphasized that audio also plays a very important role in the video, and that the place we choose to film was important too. We have to choose a place with the right lightings. Well, I guess today’s screening was quite worth it, getting to see some interesting examples. However, I had actually hoped they would show examples to us, as in, student’s work, but er, nevermind.
Confronted our lecturer about the 5th and 11th of Feb. I might not be able to attend class as I have to return to
Message to group members: Maybe we should do some video test on the intro. Then, we can present it. We can also add sketches into our presentation.
Anyway, things that should be covered yesterday was, erm, I guess, whether or not we would still want to cover all the modules we’ve taken or not, and to continue our discussion on how to link them together. OH, and our ending!
Uh huh…I guess that’s all for yesterday!
=( I feel kind of guilty about yesterday.
PS: I am not very sure of the Video's Title. AHAHA. From my last bits of what happened yesterday. Uh huh. Yep yep. Short Term Memory ._.
